Welcome to 2050 Logistics

Going GreenIn 1987 the Brundtland Commission concluded that...

Humankind is having a damaging effect on the planet and putting at risk our very survival and collective action is required, involving all nation states, to find solutions to the 'tragedy of the commons'.

Since then, various summits have taken place that have led to governments at an international level committing to real reductions in GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions including CO2 in order to offset the impact on climate change.

As a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol, the UK government committed to a 12.5% reduction in GHG emissions by 2012 (against 1990 levels)

The UK government has further committed to a 34% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020 and 80% by 2050.

2050 Logistics was so named because of the need for 2050 rather than 2020 vision.

Do goodBusiness threats & opportunities

The achievement of these targets is dependant on a major change in the way businesses operate.

Green taxes now represent circa 7% of total tax revenues and significant increases are already planned.

Businesses also face rising energy costs and possible shortages.

Leading companies have already embraced the challenge and are seeing the benefits of competitive advantage through significantly reduced operating costs and improved reputation

The triple bottom line benefits are increased sales, increased margin and reduced operating costs.

2050 Logistics are able to help you green your business by:

  • Developing sustainable business strategies and supporting policies
  • Calculating your CO2 footprint and implementing CO2 (and cost) reduction programmes
  • Securing available grant funding
  • Avoiding “Green-wash” and “The law of unforeseen consequence”
